Dark Fibre Fastrack for PIP

PIP has been delivering cloud applications since their inception in 1985, hosting Mainframe and UNIX based applications at their datacentre. The latest string to their bow will keep service performance levels high with the newly installed Dark Fibre peering from Fujitsu to NextDC S1.

PIP are the first to take advantage of this new connection which allows long line peering/vll services from these facilities back to S1.

The fibre installed between NextDC S1, Fujistu and NextDC S2 will enable peers to connect to IX Australia in these facilities.

With their Sydney based Data Centre growing rapidly, PIP Manager Ben Bryan was charged with the install project, after PIP Directors jumped at the chance to sign up for the new connection from IX Australia.

“There are many advantages to this,” explains Ben. “there is a major benefit in reducing the costs involved in cross connection; the IX Australia service is much cheaper than any other large commercial offering and this also makes our business highly scalable, which will enable faster delivery of end services as we grow”.

Ben says half of PIP traffic is accounted for by streaming activity – even across their business customers.

“This new connection will make a noticeable difference in download times for our customers,” says Ben. “It’s going to give us a definite competitive advantage over other ISPs”.
