The cast will show you step-by-step what tools and options they have to tackle a complex situation filled with technical, organisational and personal risk. Elise Davidson
Media & Communications Consultant

Elise is a crisis and issues management expert who has worked for government, corporates, not-for-profits, agency, and start-ups. She was general manager of corporate affairs for Vodafone when its 4G network went down and adviser to former ACCC Chair Rod Sims. Elise now helps organisations prepare for and manage issues, including data cyberattacks. We look forward to putting her real-time problem-solving and strategic thinking to the test during our hypothetical network outage.

Matthew Kobayashi
Peering Engineer for IAA

Matt is one of IAA’s Peering Engineers, dedicated to maintaining our network and assisting Members with their technical inquiries. Since joining IAA in 2022, Matthew has used his extensive experience in the telecommunications and networking sectors to enhance our operations. As this exercise will demonstrate, his expertise ensures that he’s well-prepared to handle any crisis that may come his way.

Anne Mikita
Head of Group Technology at Datacom

We’re sure that Anne will manage this crisis with ease! She’s currently handling a team of over 1,000 engineers, developers and support staff, managing infrastructure and support services across collaboration, ERP, network and cybersecurity platforms. With a track record of leading high-performing teams in supporting complex business environments, her expertise will be invaluable as she tackles our hypothetical network outage.

Holly Raiche
Adjunct Lecturer at the
Faculty of Law, UNSW

Holly brings a deep understanding of the legal and policy framework for the telco sector, backed by extensive experience in consumer advocacy. Having served on numerous ICANN and other policy panels, she offers a unique perspective on navigating complex policy and legal challenges, as we explore the intricacies of our hypothetical network outage scenario.

Aftab Siddiqui
Internet Society 

As Senior Internet Technology Manager based in Sydney, Aftab Siddiqui is actively involved in projects that keep the internet running sustainably and measure its performance, so we’re confident that he is well placed to help us with our hypothetical crisis. With over a decade of experience in the service provider sector, including a role as chief technologist for a system integrator, Aftab brings extensive expertise from his time at major ISPs.

Narelle Clark
CEO of IAA 

Narelle brings extensive experience in facilitating complex discussions about the impact of technology on society. Her career spans debates on critical infrastructure, biomedical technology, regulation, and service assurance.  Narelle has called for this hypothetical to place a spotlight on the fact that disaster scenarios do happen but with the right mindset and expertise, even the unthinkable can be managed.
